At Pilton Community College, our mobile phone policy aligns with the Department of Education’s policy of never used, seen or heard.
- Students may carry a mobile phone only on the strict condition that it is never used, seen or heard, unless otherwise directed by a member of staff.
- If students have a mobile phone with them, it must always be switched off and kept out of sight in their school bag between 8:40 am and 3:10 pm, including break and lunchtimes.
- Students are not allowed to carry their phone in coat, blazer or trouser pockets or skirt waistbands.
- If phones are used, seen or heard without permission from a member of staff, the phone will be confiscated and a further consequence may also be given.
- Confiscated phones can be collected from the year office at end of the school day.
- If students repeatedly fail to comply with any of these expectations, parents or carers will be asked to collect phones from the school and students may be banned from bringing a phone onto the school site.
