Another Great Day for the Ocean Explorers

May 01, 2024

Another great afternoon was had by the Ocean Explorers yesterday when they ventured into Chapel Woods with Libby and Evie, beginning with viewing the chapel and the two-room dwelling which once stood on the grounds, dating from around AD 1250. The students identified and tasted wild garlic before setting off on a woodland trek to look at the trees and listen to the sounds around them. They learnt about the age of the trees and how to know if the woodland was ancient by looking at the carpet of bluebells and the primroses. The students used small wooden figures to animate their photos of the low-level flora. The rain was pouring, but the group soldiered on through the glorious green canopy and carpet of bluebells.
