A team of three year 9 pupils represented Pilton in the annual Rotary Public Speaking and Debating Competition. Darcy, Mehek and Ashton debated whether there should be a legal age restriction on owning a smart phone in the UK.
The two girls did a brilliant job of proposing and opposing the question, while Ashton was a very articulate and balanced chairperson.
Despite strong and convincing arguments, which were delivered confidently and professionally, Bideford College's experienced debating team were the team chosen to go forward to the next round. Pilton were close runners up with West Buckland and certainly deserved their place in the North Devon and Bude finals, held at The Grosvenor Church in Barnstaple on Saturday.
