Animal Care Trip to watch Seal Release

Mar 24, 2025

On Monday 24 March, some of the year 11 Animal Care students were able to be present as 3 juvenile Grey Seals were released back into the sea at Combe Martin Harbour. The release was coordinated by the Hatchmore RSPCA team, who had spent the last 5 months bringing the pups back to strength after being found abandoned on local beaches in the South West.

A very interesting talk was given to the students, by the team, about the management of rescued seals and wider RSPCA tasks. This was good timely revision of the work of Welfare Charities before their final exam in May 2025.

Those present all watched as these 3 valuable animals safely swam out to sea. What a wonderful experience for all those present.
